Yoga & Meditation Class Description

This class teaches physical movement (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation, and even chanting and mantra to promote holistic well-being and balance.

This all-levels practice builds stability in body, breath and mind, and an abiding sense of peace that students can carry into their lives to improve their outlook, behaviors and relationships.

Postures are selected and adapted to student needs, and this class is suitable for adults at most levels of fitness. Beginners are encouraged to arrange a private lesson before attending their first class.

Beginning Yoga Description

This is a four-week introduction to basic yoga poses, breathing and some meditation to promote physical health, balance and a peaceful mind. Students will receive personalized instruction on yoga poses and adaptions that make yoga gentle, accessible and effective for them.

The gentle yoga classes will be especially useful for students looking for relief from back, neck or shoulder pain, and from stress and tension. We will focus on yoga poses and breathing techniques which soften and quiet the mind and body so you can feel relaxed and at ease.

Healing Sound with Traditional Vedic Chant

Chanting Class Description

Learn to use sound as meditation with traditional Sanskrit mantras and chants in this group class. 

Traditional Vedic chants and mantras have a long history of using certain sounds, rhythm and pitch in meditation to create different experiences, sensations and moods. Sound is a powerful tool for creating change and supporting well-being, and Vedic chants balance the mind and mood in the same way yoga poses balance the body.

Each month, Zoe will teach a chant that is beginner friendly and useful to students who are interested in incorporating chanting in their yoga or meditation practice.

This year we will cover the Gayatri Mantra, Sraddha Suktam and Medha Mantra. These three chants cultivate inner strength, conviction, wisdom and clarity.

In each class, you will practice basic chanting skills and pronunciation, and Zoe will provide handouts and audio recordings to refer to during practice.

Zoe's Yoga classes are held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, at 5130 Lincoln Ave, in Evansville, IN.


The main entrance to the church is on the West side of the building, adjacent to a large parking lot. When you enter the building, you will go to the office at your left to sign in, and the staff can direct you down the hall to the yoga room.

There are steps and a ramp leading to the entrance of the building.

Chair Yoga & Meditation Class Description

This class teaches gentle seated and standing yoga poses, breathing and meditation. You will practice yoga poses to improve mobility, physical comfort, strength and balance. Breathing and meditation practices will calm your mind and relieve stress. Each class will leave you feeling lighter, more relaxed and at ease.

The monthly chair yoga classes are held in Browning Room A at Central Library, 200 SE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Evansville, IN.
